When you are on Hajj or Umrah, remember you are there for worship and the best gift you can give to your family or friends is du'a made for them. It is perfectly reasonable that you will want to buy gifts for your children and relatives as well as this.
Makkah and Madinah both have great shops for thobes, abaya, kufi/topis and perfumes. For dates, Madinah is the best place to buy them there is even a dates market at this location:
In many shops you can bargain with the price. Shops can move within a day, so if you like something then don’t wait till next time - just get it.
