Giving salaam to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ
To offer salam to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and Abu Bakr رضي الله عنه and Umar رضي الله عنه you should enter from Bab us-Salam. When you reach the railings, there is a plaque which reads “Here say salaam to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ”. This plaque is 12 feet from the grave of the Prophet ﷺ. Offer your salaams by saying:
“Asalamu alaika Ya RasoolAllah wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatahu”
(Peace be upon you O Messenger of Allah, and blessing be upon you.)
Or you can say:
Assalaamu ‘alayka ayyuha’l-Nabiyyu wa rahmat-Allahi wa barakaatuhu. Allahumma salli ‘ala Muhammad wa ‘ala aali Muhammad kama salayta ‘ala Ibraaheem wa ‘ala aali Ibraaheem, innaka hameedun majeed; Allahumma baarik ‘ala Muhammad wa ‘ala aali Muhammad kama baarakta ‘ala Ibraaheem wa ‘ala aali Ibraaheem, innaka hameedun majeed. Ashhadu annaka Rasool-Allah haqqan wa annaka qad balaghta al-risaalah wa adayta al-amaanah wa nasahta al-ummah wa jaahadta fillaahi haqqa jihaadihi. Fa jazaka Allahu ‘an ummatika afdal ma jaza nabiyyan ‘an ummatihi
(Peace be upon you, O Prophet, and the mercy of Allah, and His blessings. O Allah, send prayers upon Muhammad and upon the family of Muhammad, as You sent prayers upon Ibraaheem and the family of Ibraaheem, verily You are Worthy of Praise, Full of Glory. O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and upon the family of Muhammad, as You sent blessings upon Ibraaheem and the family of Ibraaheem, verily You are Worthy of Praise, Full of Glory. I bear witness that you are indeed the Messenger of Allah, that you conveyed the message and fulfilled the trust, and advised the ummah and strove truly for the sake of Allah. May Allah reward you on behalf of your ummah better than any Prophet is rewarded on behalf of his nation)
Or you can say:
“Asalamu alaika ya nabiyAllah, asalamu alaika ya kheeratallahi min khalqihi, asalamu alaika ya sayyidul mursaleen wa imamal muttaqeen, ash-hadu annaka qad ballaghtar-risaalata wa addaital amaanata, was nasahtaal ummata, wa jahadta fillahi haqqa jihaadihi”
(Peace be upon you, O Prophet of Allah! Peace be upon you, O the best of Allah’s creation. Peace be upon you, O leader of the Messengers and of the pious. I testify that you conveyed the Message and discharged your duty, guided the ummah and strove in the way of Allah with all due struggle)
After saying salaam to the Prophet ﷺ then move to the right and say salaam to Abu Bakr رضي الله عنه and then move to the right and say salaam to Umar رضي الله عنه. The way to say salaam is:
“Asalamualaika ya Aba Bakr, Asalamualaika Ya Umar”
Peace be upon you O Abu Bakr, peace be upon you O Umar
